Abelaw Design

For my strategic marketing class, I created a dedicated portfolio account to showcase my design work, creative projects, and hands-on marketing experiences. This space highlights the ideas I’ve developed, the campaigns I’ve contributed to, and the skills I continue to build as I grow in the field of design and marketing.

Problem

When I started my account, I noticed that my posts and carousels weren’t getting much engagement. Even though I spent hours designing them but it got few likes and comments. It was frustrating me because it didn't increase my followers. My followers increased, but still, because I follow my friends' accounts first, and they follow me. I'm starting to ask myself what my audience wants to see from my content.

Action

To understand what my audiences want. I started creating story questions for my project that I'm working on. It got pretty good engagement. So many people engaged with the polling questions, and they want to see behind the scenes and the design process. I started creating short reels to show a glimpse of my process, like material typography, laser cutting, or even collaborating with Willes Center for the Great Ideas t-shirt.

Results

The difference was huge. My engagement went up, and more people were replying, saving, and sharing. My follower count grew to around 90+ in three weeks from like 50 followers. Something that I learned from here was that people were actually connecting to my design process. They're curious about how I do it. Asking questions and trying to engage and listen to their feedback helped me a lot to gain more followers.
